Glendoick Garden Centre Plant Area/Outdoor Supervisor From late June-July 2013 onwards Duties and responsibilities -Advising customers on all aspects of plants and gardening and ensuring that customers are looked after at all times. -
Plant buying/stocking (under guidance from managers)
-Running the Garden Centre in the absence of manager or deputy manager.
-Unloading lorries and displaying of plants.
Checking quality of delivered stock and highlighting any shortages, damage or poor quality to manager/supplier. -Maintenance of plants in healthy condition, weeding, watering and monitoring of pests & disease.
-Maintenance of cleanliness and order in the plant area.
-Checking and entering stock on the EPOS system, labelling, pricing and promotion of plants (bed labels, POS etc)
-health and safety in the plant area,
-briefing other staff on plant area duties
-Some work in maintaining the Pagoda display garden
-operating the tills when required. -maintenance of surfaces, drainage, plumbing etc if required..
-occasional deliveries (in absence of regular delivery driver).
-Peats, Composts and Pots. Buying/top ups, storage of.
Hours 10 days from 14, working every second weekend.This list is not exhaustive and you may be required to undertake any other duties required by the Management of Glendoick Garden Centre. The successful candidate will have Retailing Experience and Plant knowledge.
Enthusiasm for plants, gardening and a willingness to learn are essential.

Glendoick Restaurant - Kitchen and Counter Staff, temporary and permanent, full time and part time - will include weekend work. Must be 16 years old or more.
During term time, School-age children are normally only allowed to work on Saturdays and with written permission from their school.
Glendoick Gardens Mail Order Nursery. Temporary summer nursery worker from April/May to August 2014
An ideal position for someone about to study horticulture at college. Duties to include all aspects of nursery work:
Digging and packing plants for mail order, watering, feeding and spraying growing stock, propagation: cuttings, seedlings (preparation and planting), weeding, potting of plants for sale, making up nursery beds, planting out stock, potting on liners and indoor grown stock into larger containers, general gardening and maintenance including clearing gutters, mowing.
Hours 40 hours 8-4.30pm with a 1/2 hour lunch break, with occasional weekend watering if required which is paid at an overtime rate.
There may be garden centre work available from February 2014 if you wish to start earlier.
