Centenary Weekend

Come along and celebrate 100 years of Glendoick Gardens

This year Glendoick is celebrating 100 years since Euan Cox returned from plant hunting in Burma with the first seeds to be planted in the gardens.

Euan Cox & Reginald Farrer

A chance meeting at a tea party in London in 1918 changed the course of Euan's life. Reginald Farrer was already one of the most famous garden writers and plant hunters of his day. Farrer asked Euan to accompany him to upper Burma on a plant collecting expedition in 1919. This was the diversion Euan needed to excuse himself from the jute business. And his decision to join Farrer was to have far-reaching consequences and lead to the Cox family's 90+ year involvement with rhododendrons and plant collecting.

Saturday 4 May |11am onwards

On the tasting table today we will have:

Persie Gin well - it wouldn't be a party without a wee drop of gin! And what better company to have than the amazing Persie Gin from just up the road at Blairgowrie.

and

Trotters Independent Condiments - We are delighted that Byam Trotter, founder of the company will be with us on our special day.

Wild gar

When Byam Trotter left university in 2009 and found that jobs in event management were even harder to come by than he'd expected, he started his own company instead. Trotter's first Independent Condiment was a mostarda, inspired by the fiery fruit-based preserve his parents had tasted on holiday and hadn't been able to find in Scotland. Since then the company has branched out into honey mustard, mojito jelly, a Bloody Mary-flavoured chutney, hot pepper jelly and many other flavours. It's wild garlic pesto season and we just LOVE LOVE LOVE it! Come along and taste it, find out how it is made and get ideas for how you can use it.

Eden Mill

On the tasting table today it's Eden Mill! There is simply no way we could even think of this as a party weekend without our bestest friends from Eden Mill being with us! The Eden Mill story started with a mission to revive the lost art of distilling and brewing in St Andrews.  As Scotland's first single-site distillery and brewery, making gin, whisky and beer, Eden Mill spirit is created by their distillers in copper pot-stills and exhibits a wide range of flavours from botanicals sourced from the local area, as well as from around the world. As creators of craft gin, whisky and beers, their team of distillers have the opportunity to marry the best practices from all these disciplines.

Eden Mill will be on hand to chat to you about what makes their gin the best and they will be sampling their latest creations.....
