Employment at Glendoick

Chef/Cook - full time required for the busy cafe at Glendoick Garden Centre.

Fabulous hours of work - 8am to 4pm! No evenings and every second weekend off.

You must be competent in reading tickets, organising and planning the cooking of different types of food to complete orders for each table, running the pass and overseeing the rest of the kitchen areas. This is a fast paced environment so you must be able to work under pressure to fulfill orders.

Your main duties will be:

Planning and organising of kitchen on a daily basis to ensure kitchen & staff are set up for the day ahead/next day.

To ensure orders are cooked and presented to customers according to Glendoick specification sheets and within required timescales.

To be competent in the use of the equipment provided including fryers, range, salamander, Rational Ovens, mixers, bain marie, Sota oven etc..

To deputise in the Head Chef’s absence, ensure the kitchen is run smoothly and all food is prepared to the required standard.

To support the Head Chef to train and develop the team and to ensure all team members deliver food to the required standard.

To ensure temperature records, food safety records and procedures and food labeling policies are maintained and are up to date and that end of day clean-down is performed and all records updated.

To plan menus in collaboration with Management and other members of your team, taking into account season, ease of recipe, costs and timings.

To order stock required on a daily basis and to carry out all procedures in relation to stock control, including rotation.

To minimise, control and report all wastage.

Salary - £21,000 to £22,000 dependent on experience.

Previous experience in a similar environment would be advantageous.

Days of work are 10 days from 14 with every second weekend off. Hours of work are normally between 8am and 4pm.

Cafe Staff

Glendoick Cafe - we're hiring! We are looking for staff with a can-do attitude who love the buzz of a busy environment. Full and part time work available on weekdays in a variety of roles but you must be able to work between 11am and 5pm. If you are someone who enjoys cooking then we want to hear from you. If you are someone who enjoys interacting with customers then we want to hear from you. If you love coffee (and cake!) then we want to hear from you. Garden Centre Sales Assistant

22.5 hours | 5 days a week | 11am to 4pm | Temporary until 23rd December 2021 

We are gearing up for our busy Christmas season and are looking for an extra member of staff to help out on the garden centre tills.

Start date will beas soon as possible.

Duties will include scanning stock and taking payment for this using the EPOS system; keeping the till area clean and tidy; pricing and putting out stock; answering customer queries; directing customers to other departments etc.

Meets national minimum rate of pay.
