Cafe closes at 45 minutes before Garden Centre closing time.

Tickets must be purchased from the garden centre till before driving up to the gardens.

Horticulture Nursery Worker Full Time seasonal contract Feb/March-August 2017  


Position in Glendoick's nursry. World famous for Rhododendrons and acid loving plants.

HOURS 40 hour week 8-4.30pm Monday-Friday, with a 1/2 hour lunch break. Occasional weekend watering May-September on a rota, paid at an overtime rate.

Annual Holiday allowance is 25 days plus 4 statutory days for full time workers, Pro rata for months worked

Every aspect of a busy retail specialist nursery: lifting and packing plants, watering, feeding and spraying growing stock, cuttings (preparation and planting), weeding, transplanting of cuttings, seedlings, and plants for sale, making up nursery beds, planting out stock, potting on liners and indoor grown stock into larger containers, stocking the garden centre, general gardening and maintenance, construction and running machinery.

Successful candidate should have most of the following:

•A career in horticulture in mind.

•Please do not apply if you live abroad. All candidates must live locally.

•Horticultural or agricultural machinery operation and maintenance

•Love of working with plants and outdoors.

•PA1/6 spraying certificate an advantage but not essential.

This position requires someone with initiative, drive, energy and enthusiasm for plants. You will often work on your own or with one other person. Common sense is essential as you will need to problem solve: watering systems, erecting tunnels, and so on.

There are no buses to Glendoick so you will need your own transport.
